Progress Report (by Don Leaf): August harvest has been good. We have delivered over 3000 pounds so far in August, with beans and cabbage leading. Beets, turnips and carrots are creeping up. This last week's picking of beans along with tomatoes and beets has put us over 9,000 pounds for the season.

Last week USDA Rural Development harvested on Thursday. They were joined by United Methodist church gleaners. Together they harvested 480 pounds of vegetables. Thanks to Cora, Mackenzie and Noe for your dedicated service. The term “intern” is inadequate to describe the value you provide, your amazing work ethic and dedication.

The Schedule: Please note the changes! Monday 8/21. Westside. 8 AM to 1 PM Bean harvest and crop care. Join Mackenzie and Cora for a morning of fun. We have arranged a solar eclipse for your enjoyment (but we do not have eclipse viewing glasses available)! For those that know, it was not easy to get things lined up. As it stands it may only be a 90 % coverage. Still, the sun and moon are important to gardens and we are very thankful!

Tuesday 8/22 MGNW/Goche/Friendly Grove Rd Farm. 8 AM -Noon. Harvest of tomatoes, peppers, maybe cabbage and maybe some carrots. The late broccoli, planted last week may need some tending.

Wednesday 8/23 West Side, 8 to 1 PM Task choice depends on Monday’s progress.

Wednesday 8/23 West Side 6 PM to 8 PM with Life Pointe Church and Kiwanians. Bean picking!

Thursday 8/24, Capitol Campus 8:30 to 12:30 Potato harvest and harvested area clean-up. Weeding if there is time.

Friday, 8/25 Not Scheduled.

Saturday 8/26 Westside. 10 to 1 PM. Weeding, watering, crop care. Don has to be out of town so contact Marla if you need help or direction.

Thanks everyone for all your help! Please email of call us with info, feedback or anything. We do want to hear from you! Don Leaf, Olympia Kiwanis Upcoming Event! Olympia Harbor Days, Sponsored by Olympia Kiwanis. Labor day weekend.
